NEW YOUNG SENSATION JUDD TRUMP EXHIBITION AT REDRUTH IN APRIL!

Welcome to all our visitors to Cornwall Snooker Scene. We now incorporate a section on Cornish Mines, with videos, slideshows and factsheets. We now have two DVDs (about 8 hours total) of film of Cornish Mines! This has been well received by all those who bought it! Since this website covers the Mining Snooker League, this seemed an appropriate sideline venture! Hope you like this section!

We apologise if some of the pages on this site have not been updated for some time or are incomplete. It is not always easy to get around to it. Please bear with us.

We now have a two hour DVD featuring Trevithick Day 2005, with all the traction engines and street organs in full swing, the engines out on the road and a slide show! Plus a CD ROM of photographs. Please email for details.

I also have a very large collection of snooker, tennis & football DVDs, and a few pool DVDs too. Have a look!

Snooker Questions Pages. We have now revived our question and answer section, so please send in your questions!

Please ignore the stuff below, I'll get around to updating it one day! Of course, Ronnie won the World Championship in 2008 in awesome fashion, and I recorded all his matches, as I did in his next win in 2012- see DVD collection.

Ok, so it's been out of date for a long time! I've been meaning to update for a while, but never seem to get around to it. Ronnie O'Sullivan came back to form after a poor run to claim his fourth World title in 2012, 18-11 at the expense of Ali Carter, who was appearing in his second final against the same opponent. Will Ronnie carry on next season with all those visits to China looming? Time will tell, but he was already talking about taking a six month sabbatical seconds after winning the final frame! And, further to that, we hear that he has refused to sign his contract for next season, so it looks as if the most natural talent of all time has called it a day! 2011 was Higgins' turn again, also winning his fourth World title, 18-15 over the crowd's new favourite and fast-rising 'whizzkid' Judd Trump. The Australian Neil Robertson won the title in 2010, becoming only the third non-UK player to win the title. He beat Graeme Dott 18-13 in the Final and at the time remained undefeated in any ranking Final that he contested. John Higgins outclassed Shaun Murphy 18-9 in 2009 to win the World Championship for the second time in three years. He himself had a few close shaves earlier in the tournament, especially in a nerve-tingling 13-12 victory over Jamie Cope in Round 2... If you are interested in a DVD of Jamie Cope's exhibition at Redruth 2009, please email me (to be continued when I get another five minutes, or years!).

And before that Graeme Dott wins the World Championship 2006! You have to say that, although far from the most talented player on the circuit, Graeme probably deserved to win through sheer grit and determination. Beating Ronnie 8-0 in one session of the Semi Final must go down as one of the great performances of all time. But this will not rank as one of the most memorable Championships. Marco Fu also brought great credit on himself with his play and his quiet way of going about his business.
22 year old Shaun Murphy certainly showed improved form to win the Embassy World Championships 2005. I had noted him in some previous matches as having great potential, but he shocked us all by going all the way. A Final between Shaun and Ronnie would have been very interesting, but it was not to be. It remains to be seen whether Shaun can maintain this form in the future. With the likes of him, Ronnie and Stephen Maguire around, we could be in for some exciting viewing! Unfortunately, since writing that, Stephen Maguire appears to have gone into the doldrums, never reproducing the form that took him to the Malta and UK titles. Despite not being in the top 16, Shaun Murphy gained automatic entry and high seed status in all last season's tournaments as the reigning World Champion. A bit unfair on Ian McCulloch, who, as No. 16 ranked player, had to qualify for the ranking events and failed on some occasions!

MINING SNOOKER LEAGUE SEASON 2011-12
The Mining Season 2011-12 saw STR Clinton (formerly Clinton SC A) win the title yet again, with previous champions Illogan HI A as runners-up. Although I have now resignes as League Results Secretary after many years in the post, if you want to chat about anything snooker-related, please e-mail me.

Andy Hicks is the resident professional at Bell's Court Snooker Club, Falmouth. We were delighted to see Andy's performance in the 2004 World Championships. In 2005 he came unstuck against Matthew Stevens 10-5, but there was some consolation in the fact that Matthew went on to reach the Final. And in 2006 he went down to Steve Davis in Round 1. It is also pleasing for most of us that Andy will still be allowed to play in the Mining League next season (giving 28 start) when available. It would be great to see Andy produce the true form in tournaments which we all know he is capable of.
